when selecting an URL in the addressbar or text on a page
the ivalid/missing character symbol will apear after and or infront of the selection.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to a site with lots of text
2. select the text

Actual Results:  
text is selected but has weird symbol infront/after it.

Expected Results:  
Normal selection
