To see this, click on the URL above and examine content display on main page. ==> Nav bar (table on the left) content is pushed into the main page area, overlapping the content there. Closing Sidebar makes the problem go away in Windows, but not in Mac or Linux. blds tested: Win 03-13-14-M15, Mac 03-13-08-M15, Linux 03-13-03-M15
I can't reproduce this bug, and think it may have gotten fixed by other changes in the parsing engine. Petersen, can you repro this?

I've been seeing this bug for a while, and still am. Just built from cvs (3/20/00), so it is not fixed.

I can reproduce this problem on all platforms. Test with Mac (2000032800), Win 98 (2000032719), Linux (2000032719). As described, this problem occurs when the side bar is opened when rendering this page. After closing sidebar, the layout is correct.

Doesn't appear to be a sidebar problem. Try minimizing sidebar, then varying the width of viewer window while viewing. Layout engine can't deal with cnnfn.com when window is narrow. Instead of making horizontal scrollbar, it overlaps table elements. Layers not involved; no layer tags in source. I'll attach. Tested with build from cvs made 3/29/00.
I should mention the error message below, which should indicate a place to start looking: Warning - table cell content max element height 285 greater than desired height 270

Problem happens in narrow window. Closing Sidebar helped only because it widened the window. Editing Summary to describe the problem more accurately.
Summary: HTML table pushed in over main page content w/ Sidebar open → HTML table overlaps main page in narrow main page window
Summary: HTML table overlaps main page in narrow main page window → HTML table overlaps main body in narrow main page window

Note that there is surplus whitespace on the right, about the width of the overlap. Note also that if one adjusts the side-bar at all, the layout engine correctly redisplays the page.

Excellent bug report, and test case, thanks! This is fixed by virtue of the fix for 18827. Won't mark it duplicate because it is a somewhat different test case. But will mark it fixed when I check in the code, hopefully tomorrow.

I just built and tried. The initial page of cnnfn.com displayed correctly; thanks, Buster! However, the page referred to in the chatter below: ID: http://cnnfn.com/2000/04/11/economy/imf_preview/ had the same old problem. I'd test more, but mozilla is up to its ill-tempered trick of burning 100% CPU and not responding to events very well... better stop typing and see if I can post this...

Hi Buster, I confirm a complete fix on this. The last place I had trouble, http://cnnfn.com/2000/04/11/economy/imf_preview/ is now displaying correctly. BTW, DC was great! see http://indymedia.org for details.
SPAM. HTML Element component is deprecated, changing to Layout component. See bug 88132 for details.
Come on Bugzilla, you can do it...
Component: HTML Element → Layout
