User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
When loading the browser (or opening a new window) the refresh button isn't always visible. Sometimes I need to click it to make it visible, but that doesn't permenantly fix the problem.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Close Mozilla
2. Reopen
3. If it doesn't reproduce the problem, repeat steps 1 & 2
Actual Results:
Eventually the refresh button goes away.
Expected Results:
Loaded the refresh button graphic.
The area where the refresh button is is sometimes a darker shade until the area is clicked on (which brings the refresh button back to visibility.

Please retest using the deafult theme

I can confirm this behaviour. The display or failure to display of the refresh button is seemingly random. Overall, it seems to be missing on about 1/2 of all new windows for me. It is most often missing from windows that were created by clicking on the Firefox icon in the Dock. Second most common trigger is creating a window by launching Firefox. Least common trigger is creating a new window with the New Window command (Cmd-N). Any activity involving the Navagation Toolbar seems to force the button to be loaded, as does the creation of a new tab.

I do not change themes at all, I like the default look of Firefox just fine. This problem is occuring with the default theme, untouched, unchanged, and unmodified (ie: as is upon installation)

Any extensions installed?

No extentions at all. I'm just a regular web browser user, not that into it. I do have my own site, but I usually use all stuff that has nothing to do with Firefox, I just use Firefox to view stuff. Also, I loaded a few minutes before checking back with this bug and I realized that the refresh button this time had been only half-loaded. This means (in this case) the left side of the button was blank and the right side was the blue part of the icon. It isn't something that bothers me THAT much, but it's still annoying.

This happens for me too; sometimes it disappears and comes back when I change pages, without clicking. I use dual monitors (laptop with external monitor) and mostly notice this when I don't have the external monitor plugged in.
WFM.
Does new profile reproduce?

I confirm that I see this on a brand new MacBook, running Firefox 1.5.0.4 and Mac OS X 10.4.6. It just randomly goes away from time to time. I haven't pinned down any pattern.
Using OSX 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 and firefox 1.5 and 2.0rc i have the same issue:
refresh just sometimes is gone until i click on it. (on very some cases it is even half-there).
Standard theme etc.

I've never seen it on the trunk, and nobody's reported a dupe as a Cocoa widget bug, or a Cairo gfx bug, so I suspect mento's claim in all the dupes and relateds that it's a pre-Cocoa widget bug are correct.

I no longer see this problem as of 2.0.0.3, and haven't noticed it in a long time, not in with the 1.5.x versions either.

I still consistently see this with Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 The only change is that mousing over the blank spot where the refresh button ought to be will now cause it to appear. It used to require a click.

I've been dogfooding Minefield for months now, and I never see this anymore, so barring someone able to reproduce it on trunk I'm going to clear the blocking flag and resolve this.

Mike, I'm still getting this on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Is this the information you wanted? If not, what version would you like me to test under?
Is anyone still able to reproduce this issue with Firefox 3.5?
