I enreted this into the address bar in ff1.5:
"c:\Program Files\HighMAT CD Writing Wizard\1033\HighMAT_readme.htm"
It sent me to http://c-span.org!!!
Reproducible: Always
Expected Results:
It should open the file using the file:// access protocol

That's because Firefox performs an I'm Feeling Lucky search for "C".

I think it will be WONTFIX since you can't pass "c:\" to Google if it always autocompletes it with file://...
Severity: normal → enhancement
Component: General → Location Bar and Autocomplete
Summary: This url resolves to c-span.org → Firefox should interpret "c:\" in the URL bar using the file:// access protocol instead of performing Google search
