Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 This is the 2nd time. When I changed to the computer clock for British Winter I lost all my messages from July onwards. On instruction I deleted all my *.msf files and rebuilt my catalogues. This has just happened again for no apparent reason. My clock is accurate (checks with atomic clock every hour). I am worried that Thunderbird is not very robust as I've never had a problem with Outlook. Reproducible: Didn't try kept all my messages!!!!!
Maybe related to bug 318534?

Thunderbird in real mess. Keeps rebuilding inbox and others. Sometimes shows double the number of unread messages despite marking all as read. Gave up and reinstalled Thunderbird and then via Windows Explorer deleted duplicate msf files. Seems to be back to normal but who knows what the future holds. NOT IMPRESSED. Say what you like I never had problems with Outlook/Express/Eudora. Wake up Mozilla

Reporter, are you using a FAT partition?

For information my C drive is not partitioned and I think FAT32 - if that helps

Dupe of bug 136049 (or bug 314389)? John: Does deleting the .msf files in your profile folder help?

In private email from reporter: > deleting msf files partially helped. The first time it rebuilt the catalogues and all seemed well. The next time it rebuilt the catalogues but after marking them all read when I restarted the program it marked them all unread again and even sometimes doubled them up. My cure at present was to download and install Thunderbird again and delete the duplicate msf files. All seems well so far but who knows.....? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 136049 ***

COME ON Thunderbird FIX THIS PROBLEM!! The second time this happened was nothing to do with a clock change. I am know in the situation of never knowing whether the next time I go to Thunderbird I have lost my messages!! Yes I'm on FAT32, NO my drive is not partitioned. Is that the best you can do. Come back Microsoft all is forgiven :-((

WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW - The same bug on changing to British Summer Time. COME ON Thunderbird - SORT IT!!! On change to BST computer buzzed for a few minutes and rebuilt my letterboxes BUT I lost all my box contents since July 2005. Reinstalled Thunderbird 1.5.01 but no help - deleted MSF files - no help. Used my last back up and all the message to date reappeared. I use W98 SE. No partitiions. SOMETHING IS WRONG AND NEEDS ADDRESSING MOZILLA John Pendry
