of bug 270506

(Reporter: mozilla, Assigned: mscott)
Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; it; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.6a1 (20051206)
I've this mail tree:
- folder a [selection in this folder]
- folder b
- folder c
- folder d
- folder e [1 unread message]
I have the folder collapsed
- folder a [selection in this folder]
+ folder b [unread messages]
I've the focus on a message of folder a, I press "N" to skip to the next unread message (that is in folder e).
It ask a confirmation to skip to the "folder e" (I hate that confirm: please make it an option!). I confirm, nothing happens. I press "N" again, confirmation dialog, I confirm again, nothing happens again. I press "N" again, confirmation dialog, I confirm again and finally I can see my unread message!
I think it asks me a confirmation for each folder it has to open to reach the message, could it be?
And here are 2 feature requests related:
- option to disable the confirm dialog ("N" is not an undoable operation, we don't need a confirm! this should be the default!)
- option to automatically expand folders when new unread mail is added to them (outlook does it).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. press "N" (or Go->Next->Unread Message)
2. press "OK" to the confirm dialog asking you to move to the next folder
Actual Results:
Nothing happens
Expected Results:
Skip to the unread message at the first "N".

Reporter, what version of TB are you using?
The request to have the confirm as an option would be a seperate bug, please feel free to file (search for one before you post :) )

Hi Ray,
I've reported the build as: "Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.6a1 (20051206)"
This is a nightly. I'm almost sure to remember this problem with TB 1.5RC1, too.
I didn't compile the "Target Milestone" because 1.6 is not available and I don't know wether I should put TB 1.5 / 1.5RC1 / TB 2 or Future.
About the 2 feature requests I know they deserve a separate issue: I've searched the bug db and I've not found them, I will post 2 new feature requests later.
