User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: version 1.0 (20041206)
When one receives a message that has been forwarded a few times:
select most, or all, of the original message
copy it to the clipboard,
start a new message (via "write"),
paste into the new body
produces a message with only blank boxes for images.
Microsoft's OutlookExpress acheives this properly.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.View a message that has bee forwarded so that the original is in an attachment and the body contains images
2.Select parts of the nody including at least one image
3.Copy the selectiob to the clipboard
4.Start a new message ("File", "New", "Message"
5.Past the clipboard into the new body
Actual Results:
The text and empty boxes for the images will be reproduced in the new body.
The image(s) will not be duplicated inside the boxes.
Expected Results:
The text and images that were copied appearing in the new body
Outlook and OutlookExpress both perform as expected.
If there is a straightforward way to accomplish this with Thunderbird, I can't find it.

If you're actually using 1.0, you're behind the times; the 1.0 branch has been updated with several security fixes, currently at 1.0.7; and version 1.5 was just released a couple weeks ago.

This text implies that those steps work as expected for a message that's only been forwarded once, or hasn't been forwarded at all? In fact, copy-and-paste of images doesn't work *at all* in TB 1.0. Bug 223909 is about this problem; and version 1.5 has this capability.

If you like that program better, feel free to use it.
