I want to be able to copy the From: header of a message as text, not as an E-mail address. Other portions of the header pane can be copied as text. In Mozilla Suite, I can copy a link (including a mailto link) either as a URL or as text. But in Thunderbird, I can neither highlight the From: header nor copy it other than as an E-mail address.

Reproducible: Always
Related to/duplicate of bug 302913 -> Suite bug 167010?
This might be the same problem as bug #167010. However, that is a Mozilla Suite bug; and this is a Thunderbird bug. Unless the Product for bug #167010 is changed to Thunderbird, these are two different bugs and should both remain open.

Since bug #167010 has Severity of "normal", I'm changing this one to "normal".
Severity: enhancement → normal
-> enh to take it off the "bug" radar. (doing same with Bug 167010)
Severity: normal → enhancement
OS: Windows 98 → All
Hardware: PC → All
Summary: Copy From Header as Text → Copy From: header of message as Text capability

I want to be able to copy the display-name portion of the From header field of a message and then paste it into another message that I'm composing. In order to do this, I must view the source of the first message and copy from there. This is definitely not user friendly.

This is also why I continue to use Eudora Lite 3.0.6 (more than 10 years old) for E-mail. That version of Eudora has this capability.
Severity: normal → S3
