Both Firefox and Thunderbird support the -safe-mode command-line option, which disables extensions and themes and uses the default toolbar palette. It's part of Toolkit's extension manager, so it should be available in other apps as well. This option shuld be documented in firefox/thunderbird --help. The Debian manpage says: "Starts Firefox in safe mode, that is disabling all extensions and showing a bit more debugging messages." I haven't noticed more debugging messages though...

I suggest "Disables extensions and themes and uses the default toolbar palette." Also uppercases "Profile Manager".

Comment on attachment 211605 [details] [diff] [review] patch Since this text is shared with other apps that may not have a toolbar at all, you should not mention the default toolbar palette (or this helptext should be placed in an app-specific location like nsBrowserContentHandler.js).

Right, resetting the toolbar isn't that important anyway, since you can't mess up your toolbars so badly you can't restore them anymore. I guess mentioning that this isn't a permanent change is more useful: "Disables extensions and themes for this session."
