I have an Imap mailbox. Under Account Settings/Offline & Disk Space, the only options are:
Don't delete any messages
Delete all but the last n messages
Delete messages more than n days old
Always delete read messages.

None of these are what I want. Deleted messages stay in the folder. I want deleted/moved messages out of my inbox. None of those options do that.
I don't want mail deleted based on date, number of messages, or whether I read them. I want messages deleted from my inbox when (a) I delete them (duh), or (b) when I move them somewhere else.

Reproducible: Always
Maybe you mean bug 265472? (setting would be global though)
This request is separate from asking for an Expunge button.

This request is asking for another option under Account Settings/Offline & Disk Space that is
"Expunge messages that are marked for deletion or moved to another folder."
This would achieve the same functionality that exists on POP accounts.

Thanks
Severity: normal → enhancement
The behavior you want seems to be in Thunderbird 2.x. When I move or delete a message (delete is set to move to Trash), the message is expunged immediately.

I don't think that's true. You have to set a hidden pref to get that to happen, and I'm not sure that pref is even in 2.0
Ack, you're right. I wasn't checking it properly. Reopening.
