Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. click bookmark menu
2. open a sub folder

Actual Results:  
Huge height then normal height for the submenu

Expected Results:  
normal height for the submenu

Read 2. open a sub menu that contains 'Live Bookmarks' sorry

I wonder if this is related to icons not having a fixed width. The default icon isn't showing up so favicon service may be interpreting that there is one available.

I confirm this behaviour, even with icons.
Everything opens "full scale" before it settles to normal

I'm not certain fixing 327543 (livemarks icon) will fix this bug.  Any bookmarked page with a page icon larger than 16x16 causes this problem.  I believe Ben is correct in thinking the icon should be specified as a fixed width.

It is fixed in the bookmarks menu (on the regular menubar) , none of the misformed ones that show up in paces show up misformed in the bookmarks menu.

but it is not fixed in: 
places->history
places->bookmarks menu
places->bookmarks toolbar

the last belong to a different bug though (yet to be filed ?)

Can this bug be closed Doug or do you still see the problem in the main bookmarks menu ?

I'm not 100% clear on the problem being reported (I have trouble playing the flash movie.)  If the bookmarks menu in question is the toolbar bookmarks menu, then it looks fine and the bug can be closed.  If the problem is the icon displayed in the bookmarks sub-menu of the places screen, then the problem still exists.  The icon in the bookmarks section of "places" is still distorted if a web site serves up something larger than 16x16.

I don't see the problem anymore, so it's fixed for me. 
Enforcing 16x16 icons is another problem I think...
(Next time I will use gif for capture)

I haven't checked if there is a bug for that issue (we may need a new bug)
"submenu of places:bookmarks menu etc"

This one however is fixed

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
