Currently, Places opens in a new window, which doesn't seem quite usable for me. I liked the previous variants with them opening in a tab. However, in my opinion, there would be loads of people who won't like this option, either. Some of the users would like to have it opened in a sidebr, I feel. So, let the user rule!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Bon Echo.
2. Click Places button.

Actual Results:
Places open in new window.

Expected Results:
Well, I suggest adding an option for where to open Places (something like the QuickNote extension does). The following should be available:

Open Places in:
() New window
() New tab
() Current tab
() Sidebar
This feature as described is a WONTFIX.

There is another bug I think somewhere on reinvestigating as a web page for a future release. We have an intermediate popup-like solution coming for a2.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
