<tree seltype="primary"> doesn't have the desired effect in winstripe (and I assume in other *stripe themes too).

This works in Thunderbird 1.5, you can see what CSS rules are used there. Also someone on mozillazine posted the rules that work for him at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=398480 - but I cannot be sure about those.

Only the first (primary) column should be highlighted when you select a row.

seltype="primary" has been replaced with seltype="cell" and seltype="text" in bug 296040: Now you can either select a cell or text based selection.

Marking as WONTFIX, as the primary seltype is no longer necessary.
