This was easier than listing the changes for the new page to be created. :)
Ugh. Screwed up a tag. Also getting review from sgarrity to ensure I haven't totally screwed up the HTML.

Might as well just do the corrections myself here, too. :)

adding some cc's: cbeard: this will be the first pass, if we want to make breakout pages for the "how to play with the new feature" items, lets do that tomorrow brettw: is the description of the known spellchecking issue correct? schrep: any other known issues?
Comment on attachment 221668 [details] content for /projects/bonecho/releases/2.0a2.html line 230-231: you can use '<a[line ending]href=...' instead of '<a href="[line ending]...' and "mozilla/chrome". Please follow the <a href=" ../../../projects/firefox/build.html">build instructions</a>.</p> line 279, 283: same id cannot be used. <ul id="nav">

Couple things: 1) I'd drop or change the description for Extended search plugin format. Let's group the what's new section (suggesting the following): * Changes to tabbed browsing behavior * Automatic restoration of your browsing session if there is a crash * Search plugin manager for removing and re-ordering search engines * Search suggestions now appear in the search box autocomplete for Google and Yahoo! * Extended search plugin format * New combined and improved Add-Ons manager for extensions and themes * Updates to the extension system to provide enhanced security and to allow for easier localization of extensions * Better support for previewing and subscribing to web feeds * New microsummaries feature for bookmarks * Inline spell checking in text boxes * Support for SVG text using svg:textPath
(In reply to comment #7) > Couple things: > > 1) I'd drop or change the description for Extended search plugin format. "New search service that supports Sherlock and OpenSearch engines" > Let's group the what's new section (suggesting the following): Right now it's grouped by things that are interesting to users. I'll take another pass and try to group by both things where possible. (In reply to comment #6) > (From update of attachment 221668 [details] [edit]) > line 230-231: you can use '<a[line ending]href=...' instead of '<a > href="[line ending]...' > and "mozilla/chrome". Please follow the <a href=" > ../../../projects/firefox/build.html">build instructions</a>.</p> That's your copy and paste error. I'm not showing that newline in my version. > line 279, 283: same id cannot be used. > <ul id="nav"> > While technically true, we've been doing this in relnotes since Deer Park, and I'm not about to dig into the css to change the id to a class as part of this bug. Please file a different bug to cover that change (which I agree should happen). New versions of the files coming shortly.

Comment on attachment 221730 [details] content for /projects/bonecho/releases/2.0a2.html The "Back to Bon Echo Page" can be rolled into the UL below it rather than standing in it's own UL (fixes the double "nav" id problem).
Here's a version of the title graphic with "alpha 1" changed to "alpha 2"
- rolled in the <ul> thing as per Steven's comments - changed background graphic reference to releasenotes-bonecho-alpha2.png - changed the first div class name to bonecho-releasenotes Assuming Steven has no problems, let's get this committed to CVS? 2.0a2.html and the graphic can go now, and the changes to index.html should go as we push the builds to the wire.

To get rid of that menu on the left, add the filename (2.0a2.html) to a text file called NOMENU in that same dir. I'd do it myself, but I'm having some cvs trouble.

This patch was generated using doctor. I don't think we need to add this known issue to the /projects/bonecho page since it's mac-only, but if you want, I can whip up a patch for that as well.

Why was a new "index-2.0a2.html" added (projects/bonecho/index-2.0a2.html) instead of just editing the original one?
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
We wanted to have distinct start pages for each alpha release so as to not confuse testers, i.e. alpha1 users should not get the alpha2 start page. We now provide a redirect to the appropriate start page by version.
The last paragraph in Localized Builds section reads Alpha 1 instead of Alpha 2.
(In reply to comment #23) > The last paragraph in Localized Builds section reads Alpha 1 instead of Alpha > 2. Thanks, fixed. I think this is all done. If I missed a reason why this should be left open, please correct me. :)
