User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.13) Gecko/20060418 Fedora/1.0.8-1.1.fc4 Firefox/1.0.8 Build Identifier: version 1.5.0.2 (20060420) It can take a very long time to complete a LDAP search, particularly over remote connections. During the search the message bar at the bottom displays "No matches found" eventually a match is returned, or the user gives up waiting. There should be an indication that a connection has been made, authentication is successful, and a search is in progress. When the search is complete, the user should not be left to guess when that might be. It was *very* difficult to get LDAP set up with Exchange. A small amount of progress reporting would have gone a long way to assist in the process. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Establish a slow connection to an LDAP server 2.Open address book window 3.Select LDAP address 4.Enter search pattern that isn't in address book 5.Wait for search to complete 6.Give up when you get tired of waiting Actual Results: There is no visible difference between an ongoing LDAP search and a search which has completed without finding a match.
This is a duplicate of address book bug 327269 - "UI lacks proper progress indication for lookups". *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 327269 ***
