338613 - Can't send mail when OCSP is turned on

I get an error when I try to send encrypted mail when I turn on OCSP.  The error is:

  An internal failure has been detected. It is not possible 
  to complete the requested OCSP operation. 

I would like to get a more detailed error description.  Is the OCSP server unavailable? Was the certificate revoked? Some other error?  What action should I take?

There is nothing you can do at the moment.
This is a regression introduced with the solution to support OCSP over proxies.
The required fix is described in bug 337517.
