User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060523 Ubuntu/dapper Firefox/1.5.0.3 Build Identifier: version 1.5.0.2 (20060522) In the configuration for "Return Receipts" there's an option: When a receipt arrives: (o) Move it to my "Sent" folder I have that turned on, but receipts are being left in my Inbox. My guess is that this is because I have the account configured like this: When sending messages, automatically: Place a copy in: (o) Other: "Inbox on Local Folders" and so Thunderbird thinks that "Inbox" is my "Sent" folder. But it isn't. The "Sent" folder is the "Sent" folder, and the "Inbox" folder is the "Inbox" folder. Perhaps the configuration option could be reworded to say: "Move it to the folder where sent mail is saved" or something. At least that would be more accurate. As it stands, the option doesn't do what it claims to do. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: I ask for receipts to be moved to "Sent", but they're left in "Inbox" Expected Results: I would expect that if I ask for: 'When a receipt arrives, Move it to my "Sent" folder' then what would happen is that received receipts should be moved to my "Sent" folder. ie. my folder that is called "Sent". (I would prefer to be able to move them to a folder of my choice, say "Receipts", but that doesn't seem to be an option).

[Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9b3pre) Gecko/2008012001 SeaMonkey/2.0a1pre] (nightly) (W2Ksp4) I didn't test the bug, in either applications; but let me note that SeaMonkey has the same option/wording.

The "Sent" folder is the "Sent" folder, and the "Inbox" folder > is the "Inbox" folder. Uh.. If you have set the Inbox as your "Place a copy in" f-lder, it *is* the "Sent" folder. Also note the "" around "Sent" folder. I don't think this is a bug at all, especially as the return receipt settings are global, and the sent folder are per identity.

From a logical correctness point of view, it may not be a bug, but it's clearly possible to get Thunderbird into a state where the user experience is (at best) confusing, and we should figure out if we can do better. That said, this doesn't feel like something that's likely to effect a large number of users to me, especially because it's not the default configuration, so marking as blocking-thunderbird3-.
