340066 - Change request: extra options 'Mark as Read' and 'Mark as unread' in context menu for messages

I would like to request two options in the context menu: "Mark > as read" and "Mark > as unread" to make it easier to change the status of the selected messages.

Reason:
When selecting multiple email messages (some read, some unread), and right-clicking on them, the context menu shows one option to 'Mark as read' with or without a checkmark before it. The checkmark is shown, depending on the status of the first selected message. 

When I want to change the status of the selected messages, this behaviour is not obvious, and sometimes leads to having to change the status twice. (if the  first selected message already has the intended status).

Looking into 22307:

bug 223073 is from 2003, bug 64326 is from 2001.

Any change of this being fixed before 2.0?
