User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 The last two times that I have updated firefox, immediately after the update I experience problems with my bookmarks, and my toolbars. My bookmarks completely disappear, and the toolbars go back to the default layout instead of the one that I'd already used. When trying to remake the bookmarks, it works correctly. However when I try to change my toolbars back to how they was, they change back to the default layout when I restart firefox. Skins, saved passwords and extentions are unaffected by this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create custom bookmarks and change the layout of the toolbars on Firefox. 2. Install Adblock Plus and Qute theme. 3. Update Firefox. 4. Problem is recreated. Actual Results: The problem that I described reoccurs, I lose my bookmarks and the way I had set out the toolbars but extentions, saved passwords and themes are unaffected. Bookmarks can be recreated, but the toolbar layout always reverts back to default. Expected Results: Firefox should of kept my previous bookmarks and toolbar layout. If this problem was caused by an incompatible extention or plugin, I'd of preferred had it told me that instead of wiping my bookmarks and toolbar layout. I have Adblock Plus 0.5.11.3 installed and the theme Qute 3.1 installed.
As far as I know, the cause for these problems isn't known. I can't reproduce it using Qute 3.1 & Adblock 0.5.11.3, so there must be something else going on in the profile files. You're using an older version of Adblock so I can't be sure I have the right file (multiple google hits). Any reason you aren't using v0.7.0.1 from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1865/ ? Fixes: - The toolbar problem is caused by corruption of a file called localstore.rdf, which stores a number of UI settings. You can fix this using this information: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Toolbar_customizations_reset_on_startup - The bookmarks you can recover using this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks [Moving to Firefox:General based on experience in #firefox. Update may be one of the triggers but it happens in normal use too.]
