User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; nl; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4
Build Identifier: Versie 1.5.0.4 (20060516) [Dutch Version]

I'm unable to install the Dutch Dictionary. When I download and install spell-nl.xpi I get a pop-up: Succesfully Installed, but when I look into the Spelling Checker I only see the Enlgish/US (default).
I get the same result when I try to install the Italian Dictionary.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new message in the mail client.
2. Go to the spelling checker and in the bottom left corner go to: Language and select 'download more'
3. Select Dutch
4. Install now
5. Close Extension box (spell checker is disappeared from this box)
6. Close Thunderbird.
7. Open Thunderbird and try again.

Actual Results:
I'm unable to choose the Dutch dictionary.

Expected Results:
Add the Dutch dictionary to the list.

I have Thunderbird running on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server. I tried to install the dictionary with an administrative account.
You didn't install it directly in firefox did you? You have to download the xpi and go to thunderbird > Extensions > Install.
Seeing this too with
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060606 Minefield/3.0a1

Tried both the Dutch and Norwegian dictionaries both used to work for me.

As this is both Tb and Fx --> moving to core and confirming.
Since i'm on Mac --> OS = All, Platform = All

I've also noted that the context menu for textboxes seems to indicate that all dictionaries are broken. Screenshot coming up shortly.

Adding blocking dependencie to bug 338999.

Ever confirmed: true
OS: Windows Server 2003 → All
Product: Thunderbird → Core
QA Contact: general → spelling-checker

Steps
1. Install latest minefield (via check for updates); restart Minefield
2. Add dutch and norwegian spell check xpi's to Minefield; restart Minefield
3. Type in a textbox and call up the context menu.

fwiw, *all* text i type in textboxes is underlined, no matter if i type in english, dutch, norwegian, swedish or danish.
fwiw, i cannot reproduce comment 0 (that is: in Tb). Appears broken for me in Fx though.

Workaround:
1. Download the Dutch Dictionary from the download page and save it somewhere on your harddrive.
2. Go to thunderbird > Extensions > Install
This way it works. But when you install it directly from the download page it fails. Thanks!

True, that's why i said that i couldn't reprodue it for Thunderbird.

However, when i tried that for Fx yesterday it didn't work.
Dupe of/similar cause as the more recent bug 340807 (note the similar screenshots in both bugs).

Now the fix for that bug is checked in, this issue is resolved for me as well.
Marking as fixed by the check-in for bug 340807.
