using today's trunk build 2000-03-31-09 on linux the product doesn't launch.
Profile Manager doesn't come up.
Noticed there are new bits now, will try again. Stay tuned!
Launch is successful after removing $HOME/.mozilla and automigrating a 4.x
profile.
When I use ./netscape -profilemanager to test profiles I do not launch and
appear to hang in Profile Manager- the console shows debug statements for
ProfileManager- missing last end. Last line before hang is
Move window by 575.5,431.5

Grace or granrose - who should get this bug? Do you know?
Hardware: HP → PC
Summary: Linux doesn't launch → Linux doesn't launch on existing profiles.
isn't profile manager typically selmer or one of his people?
changing component and adding ben and selmer to cc list to get ProfileManager
attention

Can't smoketest mailnews because with new profile (which is the only way I can
get the product to launch) it doesn't complete a New Account setup for Mail
(which is a different bug).

Do we see profilemanager window..? Going to check on my linux box.
I don't see the PM, but didn't yesterday either. Today though, I can't use the
invisible PM, nor can I launch normally with -installer.
And while it is running, it is sucking up about 40% of my CPU cycles.
Updating happens on Win98 too, changing platform to all. BTW...bug number for
Account setup problem mentioned above is 34063

I don't think this is a profile manager problem. Looks like GlobalWindowImpl or
some other related component. Trying to trace where the problem is so that I
can reassign this to the right owner.

I have seen the profile manager window on 30th's noon build on my linux box.

Changing platform to All and removing "Linux" from summary.

Happens with Mac too
I just checked mozilla builds on akkana (around 10.30am) and eric's
(early morning build) machines. Profile manager window comes up without any
problems. Adding leaf to the cc list with a small suspicion of corrupted bits
posted.

Reassigning to Ben and adding hyatt to the list as these problem looks coming
more like front-end and they have been working on xul changes lately.

until the problem is identified and fixed...
one can use -profilewizard option to create a profile.
Also -P <profileNmae> to launch the browser.

I need QA feedback. Is that a viable workaround that makes this bug no longer a
blocker?

granrose - not for mail. See bug 34063 which occurs when we use the workaround.
Alecf says the problem may be caused by the bug that's causing this particular
bug report. Pls check with alecf.
Using linux respin this is fixed (2000-03-31-15M15). Waiting for Win build to
test that platform.
I haven't seen this on Win 98 in any build today, just the first verification
builds for Linux.
OK on Mac now too. Still waiting for win32 build to do final verification.
I cant get anything to startup, I cant get a build just now.
