This has happened twice where my inbox received new mail (on June '06) that I alread have received from December '05. I am using Mozilla Thunderbird version 1.5.0.4 (20060516).

I sent a help ticket to my web hosting control panel and have their notes pasted below:

Q: Every once inawhile I get copies of old email coming to my index that were from a few months ago. I ignored it the first time as a 'one time thing'. But it has just happened again.

I receive email telling me of new customers being signed up and getting billed that are actually from a few months ago. I don't want my customers getting these copied emails to make them think that they are getting charged extra for services that were paid a few months ago.

A: Hello,
Can you please provide me with headers of such emails to check?

A: The cp is not sending the mail out twice. If you check your email with Outlook or a similar client it is possible that the email did not get removed from the server when it was deleted from Outlook and so then Outlook sees it as new mail even though it's not.

I use Windows XP Professional on a PC.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. This action happens every so often.
2. I cannot reproduce the effect, except to wait.

Actual Results:
Received duplicate emails from about 6 months ago displayed as new with the old date from about 6 months ago.

Expected Results:
Not show me the duplicated emails that I already have read. (I recognize seeing the emails before)

Using the default theme with these extensions:

Talkback 1.5.0.4
Signature Switch 1.0.2
Delet Junk Context Menu 0.3.2
Mozilla Calendar 0.2.0.2006116 (was added after problem)
Advanced Junk Mail Filter (Thunderbird 1.5 edition) (was added after problem)
I have had this same problem happen to me. About 60 messages from as long as a month ago suddenly showed up in my inbox tonight. Some were shown as unread, some were shown as read; all had previously been moved to other folders. About the time of the duplicate messages showing up, I got an error message indicating a fault in a program. It was not clear if the error was associated with Thunderbird. I am using 1.5.0.4 (20060516). Leland Sheppard 7/7/06 lcshepp@directcon.net I am running XPH SP2
