When I try to install extension and themes, nothing happens to the Extension/Theme Manager. It does open a window asking me whether I want to install or not, but when I press "install", the window closes but doesn't install anything. The Manager acts as if nothing is requested to be installed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on extension/theme's download link
2. A window opens, titled "software installation", telling me I should only install extension or themes from places that I trust
3. Press "install" button
Actual Results:
Nothing happens to the Manager. It acts as if nothing is installed.

Expected Results:
It should have installed the extension/theme.

This problem happened after a power outage shutted my computer down unexpectedly, with Firefox running. I tried reinstalling firefox, but still no luck.
Uninstalling doesn't remove the profile which is where this problem resides. Are any extensions / themes displayed in the extension and the theme manager?

No, none. The managers display nothing.
Please attach the extensions.rdf file that is located in your profile directory.
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile
That is the weirdest corruption I have ever seen. Sometimes rdf is corrupted under during a power loss and the extension manager in the next version of Firefox already has a workaround for this rdf issue. To fix this in your current version just delete the extensions.rdf file and it will be automatically regenerated.

btw: though I am quite sure this is the same as bug 324111 could you please reply with whether deleting the extensions.rdf fixes the problem for you? Thanks
