This is already implemented however, unfortunately the current implementation appears to work only with groups <g>:
rather than anchors <a>. It should be possible to tab through anchors using for instance:
addEventListener("focus", focusHandler, false);
see attachment.
alternatively http://www.peepo.co.uk/index.svg for groups,
URL for anchors, note currently broken
rationale:
:focus is part of the standard:
http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/interact.html#UIEventProcessing
and
http://www.w3.org/TR/2004/WD-SVG12-20041027/events.html
"Processing of any relevant dynamic pseudo-classes (i.e., :hover, :active and
:focus), after which the event is passed on for:"

this applies equally to other events such as mouseover, mouseout and blur.
it's the support for anchors that appears to be missing, rather than support for events per se.

partially resolved by patch to bug:267664
as I mouseover the text
the mouseout is being fired
letter by letter
is this intentional?
it's irritating and likely to be confusing

As originally reported this bug was fixed by the patch for bug 267664. I believe the issue mentioned in comment 4 and comment 5 is covered by bug 369054. If not please open a new bug.

I'd like it understood that in my view there should be a default indicator that highlights links on focus.
as per image for html having a dotted border or similar.
else one is reliant on author adding scripting which is unreliable.
of course scripting isn't possible in some situations.
How could one set up a user style sheet to ensure that linked text In SVG was always blue and underlined on focus?
otherwise fixed thanks

I agree with Jonathan - it would be nice if there was some default indication of an SVG link being focused, the dotted border seems like the most reasonable and consistent with HTML links, buttons, etc. Would this be hard to implement? Ideally the dashed box would not even be grid-aligned due to skewing/rotations.

I can no longer get this to 'work'
can someone please confirm this is a regression, or more likely email me instructions to enable keyboard navigation?
