Details

Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=8887 2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page by dragging the scrollbar thumb. Expected Results: The page is rendered normally. Actual Results: Near the bottom of the page there are gray boxes and text is missing. I can reproduce in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1a3) Gecko/20060626 BonEcho/2.0a3 with a new profile and in SeaMonkey 1.1 nightly builds. There is further discussion about the bug here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=431584
Related to Bug 342781 or Bug 322680? Although I can't reproduce the latter.
Bug 191850 dejavu, except without iframe?
Someone could figure out the regression range
(In reply to comment #3) > Someone could figure out the regression range > I see it also in old Phoenix 0.4.
(In reply to comment #3) > Someone could figure out the regression range I see it in 1.5.0.4 and branch. The page does have two validation errors, and is 181,231 bytes. In SM branch, I just saved to disk and opened it, then searched for the line preceding the validation entity error to change it. Search located it under a gray box, and the search window got buried inaccessible under the gray. I had to close the tab. Searching in 1.5.0.4 brought me to an empty outlined rectangle instead of content or gray box. Removing that illegal entity allowed search to find that section of text, but there remained the gray boxes elsewhere. Turning off page style turned off the gray boxes. Turning the page style back on did not turn the gray boxes back on.
(In reply to comment #4) > (In reply to comment #3) > To be exact: it regressed between Phoenix 0.1 and Phoenix 0.2 :) Don't know where to find the nightlies in between.
Okay, so if it's a regression, it's a really old one. A reduced testcase is the next step.
Loads fine in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826 One gray box in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021126
Looks fine in: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021126 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021113 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Bad in: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021201 Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.7.13) Gecko/20060425
(In reply to comment #7) > A reduced testcase is the next step. > Bug 342781 has a testcase that appears to be the same issue (except for the iframe): As soon as I release or touch (or even approach) the scrollbar slider, the black box disappears.
(In reply to comment #10) > In fact you can see that if you shorten this testcase a bit to height: 33200px and scroll down to the bottom so that both the box and the border are in view, the black box jumps back into the border as soon as you release the scrollbar.
hmm, sounds like 16bit widget coordinates again
In Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060629 Minefield/3.0a1 the boxes are black.
Summary: Long MozillaZine articles render with gray boxes and missing text → Long MozillaZine articles render with gray or black boxes and missing text
Version: 1.8 Branch → Trunk
Blocks: 301637
Not just a trunk bug, as it is in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5) Gecko/20060630 Firefox/1.5.0.5 ID:2006063006 as well.
(In reply to comment #7) > Okay, so if it's a regression, it's a really old one. > > A reduced testcase is the next step. > any relation? Bugzilla Bug 67127 Newline in tooltips (title attribute) converted to black bars
This URL always shows a weird gray box over right content box: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/w29wacsy(VS.80).aspx
What should be done with this bug? The content has been removed from the URL given. Maybe dupe it to Bug 342781. Or based on comment #12 here and the end of comment #2 in bug 368249 maybe this is a dupe of that.
(In reply to comment #17) > What should be done with this bug? The content has been removed from the URL I've changed the URL to one that still demonstrates the bug.
Roc seems to be duping the 16 bit widget problems to bug 215055 (e.g. 368249). So per comment #12:
