If you take a look at the example feed, you'll notice that most of the summaries don't show up, namely those with type="html".
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. create / open an Atom feed with an entry that has a HTML summary
Actual Results:
The summary is ignored.
Expected Results:
HTML summaries should be recognized and embedded as HTML. The content would have to be nested within <div class="feedEntryContent">, because <p class="feedEntryContent"> would break if it contained <p>.

The summaries that are elided contain only img tags and no text. Since a3 and b1 strip tags, they don't show up.

I didn't meant to target Firefox 2. Furthermore it was my intention to say that tags shouldn't be stripped, so simply stating that they are stripped ATM can't be the reason for not fixing this.
Also note that the sample feed contains text within the alt attribute. If removing HTML is the way to go, it could be more intelligent.

Just discovered bug 302749. Maybe it should be reopened. Then this would be a duplicate of it.

Crap. I misread that as "in a future version". Never mind then.

you have my vote on this, this strip_tags behaviour kills bittorrent rss feeds usability, for example this feed:
http://www.tntvillage.org/tntforum/ssi.php?a=releases&cat=13&show=10&type=rss
does not link down .torrent files while previous version did.
wait for reintroduction of html tags

I'm going to mark this a dupe of bug 340554. There's a patch there that turns on HTML.
