Just today, I began getting NUMEROUS NSIS Advertisement pop-ups. I didn't open any e-mail before it started, and I have NEVER received a pop-up since I started using Firefox (around January of 2006). You told someone else that they must have some sort of malware, but I truly believe that some company has suddenly found a way to get around Firefox's built-in pop-up blockers, and you're not ready to admit it yet. I have anti-virus, anti-spyware software (which is updated every time I get online) and I've tried changing to the newest version of a different pop-up blocker, to no avail. Firefox is supposed to be have built-in pop-up blocking abilities, and that is one of the main reasons for using it, instead of Internet Explorer. You need to find out who this company is that has breached your security, and block them. If you just tell your users that it is somehow all their fault, then what reason do we have to use Firefox??? I suspect that most people who use Firefox put up with minor inconveniences, like certain fancy web sites not working perfectly, because they want to use a browser that is on the cutting edge of technology, particularly with regard to security features. If you're not even going to remain committed to the reasons your product is supposed to be better than Internet Explorer, then everybody is just going to use Internet Explorer. Would you please take this seriously??? I have been telling everybody that they should try Firefox, but if you don't look into this, I'll eat my words and tell everybody they should go help Bill Gates buy some more land on Nantucket...
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Just browse!!!
2.
3.
Actual Results:
You get pop-ups, duh!
Expected Results:
I'd expect NOT to get pop-ups using Firefox, but now that isn't true anymore.
Fix it! That other person who reported this was regarded as an uninformed person who surely has no protection on their PC. I have plenty, and it is happening to me. It just started today. Wake up - you have a problem!

What you're seeing aren't pop ups in the traditional sense. They're legitimate (albeit unwanted) windows being launched locally by malware via explorer.exe on your machine.
NSIS Media is fairly new malware (emerged within the past week or two) and is undetected by most adware/virus apps at this time. The malware itself apparently comes bundled with numerous legitimate looking applications such as Foxie and serveral applications masquerading as firewalls or other security software.
Please see http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/spyware-adware/t-nsis-media-popups-38259.html for more information and comment 13 for a possible remedy.
I'm marking this as a duplicate of the previously opened one just so we can colsolidate reports of this and decide what the best course of action is.
