It's not clear from the "new bug" page or even from the "bug writing guidelines"
page that bugzilla shouldn't be used to report bugs in Netscape 6.0. I suggest
that something like this be added to the new bug page, at least for a week after
each beta release:

"If you find a bug while using a Netscape-branded version, please test it
against a <link>nightly build</link> of mozilla before reporting it here. If the
bug only occurs on the Netscape-branded version, please report it using
help|feedback in Netscape 6 instead of on bugzilla."

Marking as major because it needs to be fixed quickly (see bug 34761).
This is another way in which Marketing's separate Feedback Center for Netscape 6
makes a bigger mess.

The suggested text is great, but we also have people using Netscape Communicator/
Navigator who keep going to Bugzilla and need to be redirected.

So, another sentence to the effect of "To report bugs in Netscape products (such
as Netscape Navigator or Communicator), please visit the Navigator/Communicator
Bug Report Form." is probably necessary
Updated Bug Writing Guidelines with following text:

"Are you in the right place?

These bug writing guidelines, and the Bugzilla bug tracking system, are for
reporting bugs in mozilla.org open-source projects. If you've found a bug using a
Netscape-branded product, please confirm that the bug also exists in a
mozilla.org build before submitting it here.

Bugs reported here against Netscape 6 Preview Release, Netscape Navigator, or
Netscape Communicator products will be ignored."
That's good, but I still think the "new bug" page should say something for a
while, because people don't click on "bug writing guidelines" every time they
submit a bug. I'd also suggest telling people to use a recent nightly instead
of a milestone, to prevent large numbers of users of a netscape-branded version
from downloading a milestone that is older than the netscape-branded version
and then reporting a bunch of similar, already-fixed bugs.
I agree 100%; nobody reads the bug writing guidelines, anyway. ;)

I didn't modify the new bug page because I don't have permission to modify it,
but Terry (to whom you've assigned the bug) does.

This was fixed on each of the new bug pages after the product is selected
(http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Browser , etc).

The text is displayed on the enter bug page for all products, but that's ok
because users new to reporting bugs here are more likely to give the wrong
product than experienced users.

Verif fixed.

btw, http://www.mozilla.org/quality/help/bugzilla-helper.html also tells
Netscape users to use Netscape's form :)
