anyone know if we have contact, review, approval info on file for De Mauro?
Whiteboard: bizdev-De Mauro
DeMauro plugin was approved with bug: 265209 For yahoo I did not find how to enable Italian suggestions. Maybe it is a Yahoo issue? Should I disable it? I think suggestions could be useful also in English.
Yeah, suggestions for Yahoo should be off. My italian is bad, so I didn't find a terms of service for De Mauro, but there are links to Firefox at Mozilla Europe and to the italian search plugins on http://www.demauroparavia.it/. I bet they like being on. Potential point of contact would be their webmaster, franco(dot)bernazzoli(at)gmail.com.

I just removed suggestion url for Yahoo: Checking in yahoo-it.xml; /l10n/l10n/it/browser/searchplugins/Attic/yahoo-it.xml,v <-- yahoo-it.xml new revision: 1.1.2.4; previous revision: 1.1.2.3 done I am the author of De Mauro plugin and it is in the Italian Firefox from Phoenix 0.4 because it is very useful. De Mauro folks know and appreciate this, putting our links in their web site, as you noticed. They apparently don't have any TOS in their site. However I wrote an email to Franco Bernazzoli for asking an explicit written authorization of the service.
sounds like this no longer "needs-mic". all the search providers are approved. De Mauro is ok for 1.5 (and historical) parity, have contact info hear in the bug, and are on good track to getting explicit permission on file. add "needs-mic" back if this doesn't sound right.

Please, keep the De Mauro in Firefox search plugins! We are very happy to support and to be supported by the Mozilla foundation :-) If you are searching for the word "casa", the best way to do it is the URL http://www.demauroparavia.it/_casa so you can start new searches simply adding an underscore to the search string. Consider to add a plugin for the http://www.oxfordparavia.it too! Best regards, Franco Bernazzoli.
Cool, thanks, Franco. The current search engine implements going to http://www.demauroparavia.it/cerca.php?stringa=test&submit=submit for the search string 'test'. Is that OK? Regarding oxfordparavia, I'm sure we'd like to take a search plugin for that to addons.mozilla.org, though I'm not sure how that will end up precisely.
> The current search engine implements going to > http://www.demauroparavia.it/cerca.php?stringa=test&submit=submit > for the search string 'test'. > Is that OK? Dear Axel, submit is no longer necessary: http://www.demauroparavia.it/cerca.php?stringa=test but http://www.demauroparavia.it/_test it's more pleasant, on the DeMauro the underscore means search! If you like, I can write a little link for you (e.g. http://www.demauroparavia.it/*test) and let you know how many searches are done via the plugin (for example including an empty object from your site or something like that)
I just updated the search string for De Mauro Plugin in the http://www.demauroparavia.it/_test flavour (tested and checked in both 1.8 branch and trunk). If Franco will confirm that the search string for Firefox http://www.demauroparavia.it/*test is active I will re-update the plugin ASAP. Thank you Franco!

This would be more of a question for Mic, though, putting that on her radar. Wow, are we confusing ;-).

Ok, now you can search for 'test' using the @ char: http://www.demauroparavia.it/@test this give access at the page cercaffox.php, at the moment it is a clone of the standard search page, but can be personalized soon!
Axel, what should I do? Can I update the plugin or should I wait for Mic? (What is Mic?)
Michele, let's just use the @ version Franco has set up. If we want to do something special, Mic and Franco will figure that out. Franco, if you have suggestions or idea, Mic is the right person to contact, a direct mail looks like the way to go there.

Ok! Checked-in in both Branch and Trunk.
