Using several builds with JRE1.3RC1, I have a crash on every page containing a
Java Applet. If I delete npjava* from the /plugins/ folder, the pages don't
show applets but Mozilla doesn't crash.
That's the message I get using build 2000-04-06-10 clicking "Details" on Winows'
crash message (it's German Windows but I hope you understand everything. "Fehler
durch eine ungültige Seite"=="invalid page fault", btw) - seen after clicking
Debug>Verification>Applets:

MOZILLA verursachte einen Fehler durch eine ungültige Seite
in Modul GKHTML.DLL bei 017f:0a523f7f.

A Talkback report should be on the way. I put "Debug>Verification>Applets" as
comments, Incident ID of this one is TB8135115X, there should be one or two more
though.
Same bug seen on my computer with NS6PR1 (also two talkback reports) and nb1b
builds.
OK, crash is gone after installing ns6pr1 with _included_ JRE. Was using
standard JRE without patches before.
If anyone can dupe this to the bug regading the JRE patches, I'd verify it. but
I don't know if there's such a bug and what # it is....
Adding crash keyword.
Keywords: crash
Yes, the browser doesn't work with the Java Plug-In that comes distributed with
the standard JDK 1.3 Release Candidate 1. Mozilla API's changed since that
released, and those API changes broke the Java Plug-In, so the JDK folks
released to Netscape a pre-release version of Java Plug-In.

We'll look into making the browser more crash-proof, though. Crashing is never
good, if it can be avoided at all.

Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Nominating for Beta 2, assuming that Beta 2 is after M16 and around the M17 time
frame. We won't be able to get to this until after M16 freeze, most likely, but
could look at it for M17.
