The FrenchMozilla team would like to change some default links:
- The default news link:
As far as we know, Reuters should be the default news feed, but we weren't able to find a fr rss feed on their site. AFP only provides 7 articles at a time which appear to be tagged 'not read' even if you read them 30 minutes ago (on Sage). We would like to stick with Le Monde (http://www.lemonde.fr/) which gathered consensus with Firefox 1.5 release (we are an international team of French speaking people : France, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, ...)
- RSS web feeds:
It appears that NetVibes is the most known web feed (http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_sites?cc=FR&ts_mode=country&lang=none) so we'd like to have this order for web feeds (as Google Reader is not translated into French right now):
- netvibes
- bloglines
- my yahoo
- google reader (we guess that Google will translate this into French soon as usual, but this is not the case right now).

in general we are ok with adding RSS readers that are more relevant to the locale and especially based on this kind of input. So Netvibes should be ok, let me get back to you on the order of readers relative to any contractual obligations or market issues if any. 
in terms of using lemonde.fr as the RSS feed - do you know if we have had any kind of contact with LeMonde for this purpose?

Mozilla Europe knows somebody from Le Monde, we will put him in contact with the Frenchmozilla team. The RSS feed shouldn't be a problem since they propose Mozilla products for download and even use them internally.

Hi Mic,
We are still awaiting for news about the contact MoEu has at LeMonde.
Another concern of ours is : will Google Reader be translated into French for Firefox 2.0 release? We wouldn't like to provide a rss web reader in English in our fr locale : this would be counter-productive for everyone.

Mic, I guess it would be interesting in general to know if Google plans to localize the google reader into more languages in a timeframe relevant to Firefox2.

Le Monde's approval to use their RSS feed was sent to Mic, Le Monde would like to have a marker in the feed allowing them to know what part of their RSS traffic comes from default Firefox installs, we could use this :
http://www.lemonde.fr/rss/sequence/0,2-3208,1-0,0.xml?nav=firefox

(?nav=firefox has no effect on their feed generation of course)

we would need patches in the next day or two for this to have any chance of making the fx2 RC1 lockdown.  is someone working on those?  sounds like most of the bd work has been covered.  mic should respond shortly.

We don't need a patch for the RSS feed, that's a server redirect. Mic was supposed to get back to this in terms of the readers, and their order.

Phillipe is on vacation, Benoit, Cedric, would you please reassign this bug?
Plus, if you think that the choice of RSS Readers should block the release of Firefox 2, please request the blocking-firefox2 flag.

Re the RSS feed in the bookmarks, I have the non-keyed feed up on my sleeve, I'd rather have a separate bug to add the nav=firefox, which can happen out-of-band of the Firefox 2 release.

note to all: this has been reviewed for FF2 from BD and is good to go
meaning, the order of RSS readers is FINE
I still haven't heard from Google yet about French but will add that information when I receive it
