the feed link looks like it is set up correctly ( http://zh-CN.fxfeeds.mozilla.com/zh-CN/firefox/headlines.xml ) but when I click on the link on the bookmark toolbar I get english content. should I get zh-CN content? is it just a case of the server redirection not in place yet?

um, if that's simplified chinese, then i'd say it looks fine.
first past at server side redirects have been made so it looks like many locales are now working correctly. It looks like the zh-cn 2006091404 still isn't working correctly. The locale doesn't show up in the feed redirect scanning tool http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox2/L10n_Feed_Redirects?oldid=34001 and looks like that build still points at news.bbc.co.uk news that has english headlines and content.
properties on the the bookmark show it should point to http://zh-CN.fxfeeds.mozilla.com/zh-CN/firefox/headlines.xml so maybe this is still a server side change remaining to be made.
The English feed in the zh-CN bookmarks is not a regression, that's what we used for 1.5. Thus I don't see us blocking on that. Shaohua Wen, I'd like to get your opinion on the simplified chinese feed of the BBC before creating a redirect there.

http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/chinese/simp/news/rss.xml is not reachable in China. There should be a political reason I guess, We can reach http://www.bbc.co.uk but not able to reach http://www.bbc.co.uk/chinese . We have several biggest websites like www.sina.com.cn www.tom.com www.china.com www.netease.com, www.sohu.com ,maybe we can choose one of them?
this bug should be marked as fixed because we already changed the headlines to Sina news center.
