User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1b2) Gecko/20060821 SeaMonkey/1.1a Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1b2) Gecko/20060821 SeaMonkey/1.1a WMP 9 cannot be invoked in another application unless the application is listed in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList Thus, when I visit a site with embedded windows media, WMP 6.4 is invoked (instead of 9) because an entry for seamonkey.exe is not created in the registry. Manually adding the entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\seamonkey.exe fixes this problem. I've been able to confirm this problem on all my XP (SP2) machines. Note that all the windows media dll's show up in about:plugins, so seamonkey knows its there. I should also comment that I haven't confirmed that this problem exists in WMP10, but I don't like the UI in 10, so don't have it installed on any of my sy stems. In short, if the installer just made a registry entry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\seamonkey.exe, that should solve the problem.. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. visit www.kkoh.com 2. click listen live (top right of page) 3. login to listen to the stream Actual Results: WMP 6.4 (mplayer2) is invoked (which won't play the stream) instead of WMP 9 (wmplayer) Expected Results: WMP 9 should have loaded seamonkey installer should create this registry entry to fix the problem: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\seamonkey.exe

Confirming with WMP10. I understand this is an issue external to seamonkey, but it wouldn't hurt to add the key unless there are compatibility problems. anyway, this is a duplicate of bug #193883 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193883
