As of today, it is 9/20/2006. Several items of spam have forward dated mail. One item I have now is dated 9/23/2006 (three days from now).
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get spam that has the problem

Actual Results:
I sometimes get forward dated spam.
Expected Results:
Mail should never be recieved from the future.
I'm keeping the email if anyone needs to see it.
Not a security bug.
For what it's worth, the date on mail is the date it was sent, not the date it was received, and I think it would be very confusing to try to make the date a composite of the two.

Obviously, you aren't receiving mail from the future. You want to just throw it away if it's post-dated? I have two messages in my Inbox right now dated Oct 29 that a friend sent me while his computer clock was set wrong, and I definitely wanted to see these messages.
See bug 166254 which is about parsing and using the received date. For POP mail at least, using a current nightly build, the date in the Date column will be the Received date, and will sort correctly; but the envelope panel will show the date as it appears in the message's original Date: header. If that addresses your problem, please mark this bug as a dupe of that one.

Plus, suppose your own date got confused so that it was a day behind - would you want us to throw away correctly dated e-mail? :-)
