bug 319777 brought us two scroll buttons on either side of the tab bar. The one on the right is drawn slightly wider than the one on the left:

"We'll also need a bug for the cosmetic issue that due to something about the way tabs
are drawn, the right scroll button is about 8 pixels wider than the left scroll
button."
bug 319777 comment 108:
"The cosmetic issue is caused as a result of drawing the right most visible tab
divider immediately after the tab. The way the width of drawn tabs is
calculated there is some left over space. How we approach this issue needs to
be thought through."
Hmm, I'm of the opinion that the left button is too narrow. I like the width of the right button. Or perhaps both should be something in between.

fixed by bug 374623. removing dependancy on bug 355493 to make it easier to land, since there's no code here.
