Both crash the browser. The site works well on Windows XP and NON-INTEL Mac. It also had no problems if searching for specific pages in the site and navigating to those pages directly through Google links such as http://www/processing.org/download. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Type www.processing.org OR 2.Search processing.org and click on search result for url 3. Actual Results: Dialogue box reads: "The application Firefox quit unexpectedly." Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click reopen to open the application again. Click report to see more details or send a report to Apple. Expected Results: should have gonr to processing that org and not quit. i tried accesssing a url with an embedded .jar file which is a processing (.pde) file exported for web viewing. that url also crashes FF with the same results. You need to upgrade your JVM to Apple's latest version (J2SE 5.0 Release 4). In fact it appears you haven't upgraded _anything_ on your MacBook Pro since you received it (or reinstalled the OS) -- your OS X version is 10.4.5, but the current version is 10.4.8. The upgrades you don't (yet) have include some significant security fixes. So you really should choose "Software Update" from "System Preferences" and install everthing it suggests. This will include J2SE 5.0 Release 4. You may have to run Software Update more than once to get everything. The reason for the crash (which I've only just discovered) is that recent versions of the Java Embedding Plugin are partially incompatible with the JVM originally installed on a MacBook Pro (or presumably any Intel Mac) -- they crash when used with Java 1.4.2 (which is the default version for that JVM), though not with Java 5.0/1.5. With J2SE 5.0 Release 4 you can choose to run Java Applets in either Java 5.0/1.5 or Java 1.4.2 (though the default is now 5.0/1.5). Use "Java Preferences" in Applications : Utilities : Java : J2SE 5.0 to make your choice. The ultimate reason for the crash is that Apple's version numbers for the different parts of their "original" JVM are different on Intel Macs than they are on PPC Macs -- so the Java Embedding Plugin thought you had chosen Java 5.0/1.5 when you really had chosen Java 1.4.2, and crashes result when you mix the two versions.

You (xarene) have already resolved this problem by upgrading to J2SE 5.0 Release 4. But I've now released a new version (0.9.6) of the Java Embedding Plugin that works properly with the "original" Java release for Apple's MacBook Pros -- i.e. it now knows how to extract the version information that Apple hid away in this "original" release.
