Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061003 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Request for Enhancement: Add the ability for Thunderbird filters to pipe messages through an external script or program. This functionality would need to be for both the "matching criteria" and the "action" for matched messages. For the "matching criteria", the external program will need to return an exit code, eg 0 for success, 1 for failure (customisable of course), in order for the "actions" to take place. This would allow people to hook into 3rd party spam tools, for example, with ease. The "action" part should be able to take components from the email, eg subject, sender, recipient etc as variables to the script. The external program should not be required to return an exit status. Eg Pipe to Program -> /home/user/bin/myscript.sh %1 %2 %3 %4 ... where ... %1 = Sender's address %2 = Recipient's address %3 = Subject %4 = Message This would allow messages to be passed to scripts and programs for automatic addition to things like call logging systems or message boards. This RFE essentially takes functionality already implemented and documented in Evolution and Eudora and gets the request documented for Thunderbird. Reproducible: Always
