Hello, Using WinXP sp2, updates thru Oct. 2006, peoplePC dial-up. Use File-exit OR X out, Firefox v2 (gold) doesn't end; load v2 3Xs, get 3 instances of firefox.exe shown in taskmanager and when shutting down, get the XPCOM error message twice then one for firefox. Thanx, Bob
Please try a reinstall in a new clean directory and delete or empty the previous install folder first. If it doesn't help you could try running Firefox with a new profile.

Maybe related to / a dupe of bug 355399 ?
I can reproduce this on a brand new machine running XP SP2, Firefox 2, all security updates to date including IE 7, Office XP Professional, Symantec Client Security 10, QuickTime 7 & iTunes 7, and Adobe Acrobat Reader 7., part of a Windows 2003 domain, all downloaded on 2006 November 04 and installed on a fresh, new system. Uninstalling Firefox (the only Mozilla application installed, unless there's an OEM program I don't know about) does not resolve the problem. Error message title is "XPCOM:event receiver". Note that this is after only opening Firefox long enough to verify that it was successfully installed, and without changing any default settings for user. Firefox (and the other programs mentioned) were all installed as user seeing the message, account has only ever been used to install this software (on 11/04), machine has only ever been used to install this software.
Is this a dupe of Bug 247827?
The times that XPCOM does not close the firefox.exe process is still running in the task manager. So it seems that this is indeed related to bug 355399
Note that bug 359544 (marked as a dupe of this) is for XPCOM:EventReceiver, while this one is for XPCOM:EventManager. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 309150 ***
