Details

TB 2b1-1026 I have an RSS folder with two Craig's List feeds coming in. One is slightly more active than the first, and I have a filter defined to set a tag on items from that feed (I'm using a filter on the custom header Content-Base, which has a path that I can use to distinguish it). If all items in the feed folder are read, and new items arrive from the untagged feed, the folder name bolds and the unread-item count is shown. But if the new items arrive from the tagged feed, the folder name bolds but the unread-tiem count is not shown. I need to watch this a bit more to see what happens when items from both feeds arrive simultaneously, or for fetches when there are already unread items; will report back. Steps to reproduce: 1) Set up an RSS account with a feed 2) Set up a filter to tag new items in that feed 3) Await new messages Actual results: 3) If new items in folder are (all?) tagged, the folder name in the Folder pane is bolded but the unread count is not shown Expected results: 3) unread count shown along with bolding
I'm no longer convinced that the tag is the story, or at least the whole story. I tried putting a similar filter that tagged all messages from the sole subscription in a different folder, and that one updated correctly. I'm retrying the original feed with tagging turned off; it's possible that the failure to update is due to the busier feed being the second one listed.
Yes, I think comment 1 is correct. Sorry for the misdirection, I'll morph this to the actual (I think) problem. Steps to reproduce: 1) Configure an RSS account with a folder 2) Subscribe to two feeds, and direct each into the folder. The test will work better if the second feed is busier. 3) Await messages Actual results: 3) If new items in folder are from the second feed, the folder name in the Folder pane is bolded but the unread count is not shown Expected results: 3) Unread count shown along with bolding
Summary: Filtering to add tag suppresses unread count in Folder pane → Items from second feed in same folder fail to update unread count in Folder pane
Mike, are you doing any tagging in your most recent way to reproduce the problem?
(In reply to comment #3) > Mike, are you doing any tagging in your most recent way to reproduce the > problem? No, I tested by turning off tagging for the two-feed folder, after tagging in a single-feed folder didn't exhibit the problem. Sorry that was unclear.
Sometimes, I notice, the folder doesn't even bold; I click on it and it sudden bolds and updates with (1), containing a message with the 2nd feed. This has happened often enough that I doubt it's a matter of timing. If I notice a pattern to this, I'll update. I've also, currently, got Play a Sound turned off, and in 2b1 this is triggered by a new feed item (bug 323911) -- but I'm pretty sure the sound is not being triggered when this bug manifests.
