We currently test Tp and Ts with a new profile, which has no history data.  This is unrealistic and actually hurting performance.

Attachment: Short script for pulling links out of our Ts pageset

One condition for making the history file "good" for testing Tp is whether it contains links that will be seen on the pages.  This is due to link coloring.

This script pulls out links from our pageset (which you must acquire yourself, since we can't redistribute it), so that they can be inserted into a history db.

we should use alice's new Tp pageset for this, could generate the places.sqlite using one of these cyclers that alice pointed me at: http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/find?string=cycler.html.

also, please note that if you do run the cycler against the attached page-set, you'll be exposed to highly offensive material, and you might even turn to stone.

this is not really a bug. i'm investigating running Talos against different user profiles, but will file different bugs against testing for that. WONTFIX.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
