See Bug 369588 for more details. Bug 332900 is the lightning equivalent of this bug.
The thunderbird linux trunk builds on crazyhorse are red right now because the version of pango needs updated. Here's the error in the build log:
checking for pango >= 1.6.0 pangoft2 >= 1.6.0 pangoxft >= 1.6.0... Requested 'pango >= 1.6.0' but version of Pango is 1.1.1
configure: error: Library requirements (pango >= 1.6.0 pangoft2 >= 1.6.0 pangoxft >= 1.6.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.
*** Fix above errors and then restart with "gmake -f client.mk build"
I suspect moving the trunk build to the linux reference platform would fix this.

Note: the 1.8 branch nightlies are also built from crazyhorse I think, that might complicate things.

Go to http://tinderbox.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/ , click the topmost red-box L in the flaming "Linux crazyhorse" column, go to the end of the log, and you'll see that the Pango version is still too low: no change yet.

As an update, this VM (crazyhorse) is not going to be upgraded, as it is running RH8. Our goal is to setup a new instance of the Linux ref VM for Thunderbird, but there is only one VM host capable of running it at present, and that host is full. We are waiting on IT and a suitable maintenance window in order to upgrade the other VM hosts.
Since we're in the middle of a Firefox release right now, I would not expect any movement on this until next week at the earliest.

Stop monitoring the nightly file until the hardware is available
We'll obviously need to remember to turn this back on when we fix this bug.

tb-linux-tbox is running now and reporting to the Thunderbird tree. I've turned off the Tb-Trunk build on crazyhorse since it was useless anyway. I'll close the bug once we're sure this new build is working.
