User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2pre) Gecko/20070111 SeaMonkey/1.1
Build Identifier: ersion 1.5.0.9 (20061206)
when trying to move messages from one folder to another one by drag and drop,
drag works but drop does not:
The file-symbol moves back to the origin!
This does not only occur in the context of mails
but also with firefox bookmarks.
Same problem with mozilla and seamonkey!
googled and have the impression it has to do with gtk???
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.mark a message in the mailer e.g. inbox
2.drag it to another folder
3.try to drop it.
Actual Results:
file symbol moves back to original message.
do drop.
Expected Results:
message is moved to target folder.
mail me if you need: rei3ner@arcor.de
i think this problem is quite severe
because i have a lot of email and without drag& drop
it takes me a lot of time to sort it!
currently: 350 messages unsorted!
greetings
ernst

hm,... downloaded this one (thunderbird version 2 beta 2 (20070214))
but still the problem is present.
Are you sure that the bug i reported is a duplicate of the others?
At a first sight it seems so,
but on the other hand, "my bug" occurs with
( query rpm -q gtk2) gtk2-2.8.3-4
how does this fit into the picture???
is it ok if i reopen this bug?
greetings ernst
by the way: the nightly shows a strange status bar starting with:
<menu id="oflineMenuIter" and so on.

Sure, must be something else then...
The status bar problem is likely an extension problem. Try running without any. (Also see if that solves the dnd problem.)

okok, made a mistake, status bar problem disappeared but still:
d&d problem remains the same.
any idea?

You need to use the nightly of Thunderbird (not 2.0b2). I sure hope this fix makes it into 2.0 final... it's a horrible bug to not be able to drag messages from the list window to the folder window...

aargh! difficult!
i used the url
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/ thunderbird-2.0pre.en-US.linux-i686.tar.gz
is this the latest nightly build?
