For about a month now, Firefox has started freezing up, with the little
spinning wheel, randomly. This occurred about the same time the last OS
patch came out from Apple, and the latest update to Firefox. It happens
randomly, but seems to occur slightly more frequently when I have pages
that have video advertisements loading in an inactive tab, or when
viewing video with flip4mac (not always). It is becoming a major issue,
sometimes freezing up for 4-5 minutes at a time, only to go back to
working normally, and then do it again. Once it has occurred even once,
it begins to happen very frequently, and I have to restart the computer
(note, just restarting Firefox is not doing the trick). A few times the
computer has just frozen, without a spinning wheel or anything and I
have had to restart. I use a first generation Macbook (1.83 ghz Core
Duo) with a full gig of RAM.
I love Firefox, and prefer to to use it, and this has never been an
issue before, but recently have have had to use Safari on several
occasions when Firefox had repeatedly crashed. I have checked, and it is
not related to add ons or extensions (I have only had two installed, and
they are both disabled now). As I right this note, I have had the little
color wheel pop up 3 times for about 2 minutes each.
I am not an engineer, and cannot explain the bug in more techie terms,
but please look into it.
Thanks!

Zac, are there specific pages this happens on? I use Firefox on Mac and haven't seen this. Can you please try running Firefox in safe mode, or with a new profile and see if the crashes or hangs continue?

Hello all,
After carefully reading bug 375727, bug 371863 and bug 351420, I am resolving these as DUPLICATE bugs of bug 353962. From what I read in all 4 mentioned bug reports, their summary, description and external signs
- hangs,
- "frozen application",
- spinning ball cursor,
- weak stability,
- revision version of Firefox involved clearly suggesting a regression,
- impromptus/random occurences of hung application,
- Machine Model: MacBookPro,
- 2 have google search toolbar,
- OS being OS X 10.4.x
all concur and convincingly lead me to resolve these as a DUPLICATE of bug 353962. If you strongly believe that this is a serious mistake, then you may REOPEN the bug by providing reasons, explanations, details as to why your bug should not have been resolved as a duplicate of bug 353962.
Thank you, Gérard
