seen using today's trunk build, Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a4pre) Gecko/2007040406 Minefield/3.0a4pre. I am running on PPC 10.3.9. Attaching a screenshot of my tabs. The favicons are also clipped in the search box.

This is a fresh profile with no extensions. Testing on both a PPC Mac and Intel Mac running 10.4.9 did not exhibit the same behavior, so this may be 10.3.x only.

Is it new today, didn't happen in yesterday's build before the Cairo update?

not sure, I don't typically run trunk. tomorrow I will try the build before the cairo update.
