User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070222 SeaMonkey/1.1.1 Mnenhy/0.7.5.0 Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.5.0.10 (20070221) If I hover the cursor over the "From" address, I see nothing. The "From" address should be expanded in the Status bar. Reproducible: Always If I hover over a URL within a message, I see the URL in the Status bar. If it's an HTML-formatted message and the complete URL does not appear in the visible message body, the complete URL is expanded in the Status bar. Yes, I know I can select the plus sign to the left of "Subject" and see the headers, including the "From" header; I must then select the minus sign to return to reduced headers. I can also select the address itself and see the expended address in a popup menu (which must then be dismissed). And I could also view the message source (which I must then close). However, the address field is selectable. Thus, I should be able to see what it is merely by hovering, especially since the Status bar is generally blank at that time.
If you hover over the field it displays in context (at least on trunk). Does that serve your needs? Currently only fields in the message _body_ display in the status bar.

If, by "context", you mean I right-click on the address, that's a long-existing capability. However, the From: address looks like a link; it's blue, underlined, and turns my cursor into a hand. It should thus behave like a link. However, now that I've determined the above, I see something else wrong. The From: address indeed looks like a link but is not. It is definitely not a <mailto:> link. Tomorrow, I will submit a new bug report and close this one as INVALID (a result of the confusion caused by the address appearing as a link).
