I'm using gcc 4.1.2, glibc 2.5-r1. Thunderbird compiled from source on the same glibc and gcc (I'm using gentoo). 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open thunderbird
2.send an e-mail to yourself or wait for some other
3.when the e-mail is received thunderbird hangs
4.Turning off unwanted e-mail's filter don't "fix" the problem
Actual Results:  
Thunderbird hangs

Expected Results:  
Do not hangs

I've tried also precompiled version of thunderbird from Gentoo - the same problem.

Have you tried the official precompiled version from mozilla.org? (That's what you should test with for bug reporting.)

Yes. With version from mozilla.org it's the same. 
But I have noticed that when I turn off "show information about new e-mail" - then it works.

In TB 1.5 I had used Phoenity but this is not compatible with TB 2.0. After change to default theme - all works as it should. So I think I can mark this bug as duplicate of bug 364328
