37943 - Message|Mark |As Read should ONLY apply to one message

Win32 (2000-5-02-09 M16)
Mac (2000-5-02-08 M16)
Steps:
1. Launch Messenger using -mail (Mac use Task|Mail)
2. From the Inbox, click on the Thread icon to do a Thread Sort
3. Close the Message pane
4. Select a thread that are NOT Read (with green diamond)
5. Click on the parent thread
6. Select Message|Mark|As Read

Actual result: The parent thread and its first level child thread are changed to 
Read status (no more green diamond)

Expected result: Only  one message should be marked Read. Since I select the 
parent message, only the parent message should be marked Read.

This occurs in both POP and IMAP accounts of all 3 platforms. Occurs in news as 
well.

just out of curiosity, if you shut down and start up again, is the child really 
marked read?  If it isn't then this is probably a dup 36992

My apology. I should have gone through this step. Scott, you are right, when
shut down and start up again, the child IS NOT marked Read.
So, I am going to mark this a dup of bug 36992.
