User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Build Identifier: 2.0.0.0 20070326 I have rel 2.0.0.0 etc, XP prof, all updates applied, and I use TB as an IMAP client for multiple IMAP accounts within the same TB profile. I have configured my junk mail filters to sweep all junk mail into the same, global junk folder from each individual IMAP account. It happens that this folder is local to my client machine. Most times the junk is swept. But there is often a problem Regularly, and for no obvious repeatable reason, junk mail is autoflagged but not swept, and manually flagged messages are then also not swept. When this happens in one account it happens in all accounts. Flagging messages manually has no effect. Sometimes closing and restarting TB clears this. But it clears it for messages that I flag manually as junk, not for previously flagged messages. If I unflag and reflag a previously flagged message, only then is it swept. This is more than unusually frustrating. I assumed at first it might be because I checked email in each account and then the next (etc) before allowing the junk filter "time to run". The answer is "no". I assumed it might be because I flagged extra items manually before the junk filter had run. Again "no" Today, in the first load of TB after a cold client boot, and with no new messages in the inbox before the client was restarted, junk mail was flagged but not swept. Well, there's a first time for everything. The sweep to the local folders junk folder now only happens to email marked as junk manually. The automatic filtered stuff just sits there and giggles at me. And today the messages flagged as junk are not being swept at all, and some days they are swept to perfection So, it is intermittent. The heuristic filter itself is "ok", but the sweeper upper fails repeatably Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I think this is bug 324777. We do need more info, there is a feedback thread trying to track it down here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=518955

Seems to me that it is not strictly a duplicate since it is on 2.0. I also have some additional oddities as part of this: "Delete Mail Marked as Junk in Folder" does not work if I mark mail manually, or if I have deleted a mail manually. It can then work if I go into another account and then return to the one where it failed, but not always.
Additionally, after you mark things manually as junk, the software refuses to show you a non junk item in the preview pane, though double clicking it will open it and show it. So, since the symptoms are not documented in the other bug that thsi has been assessed to be a duplicate of I am reopening it pending a wiser head looking at it.

actually, magnus is pretty wise :) does a reading of bug 394062, where the developer comments, shed more light with respect to bug 324777?
Summary: Junk filters using IMAP do not work → Junk filters using IMAP do not work, not moved to junk folder
timmy, did you read bug 324777 comment 51 or bug 394062? you've perhaps got multiple issues but that doesn't mean junk "not moving" isn't probably a dupe. Let's dupe for now and if the eventual solution to bug 324777 doesn't work (or become available within say six months) then undupe.
