User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Build Identifier: Version 2.0.0.0 (20070326) when the following are true, master password dialog pops up every x minutes, even if you cancel it: 1. master password is not activated/entered yet 2. account setting has "check for new messages every x minute" (1 is good for testing) 3. thunderbird is in offline mode this is bad because when reading messages or doing anything while the all the precondition above are satisfied, you will be interrupted every x minutes to click cancel (if you dont know or dont want to enter the password) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. make sure the following preconditions are met a. master password is not activated/entered yet b. account setting has "check for new messages every x minute" (1 is good for testing) c. thunderbird is in offline mode 2. wait for x minute, read some emails Actual Results: 3. after x minutes, master password dialog pops up 4. click cancel 5. after x minutes, master password dialog pops up again Expected Results: thunderbird should not check emails when it is offline mode, therefore not asking for master password when it is not activated yet. workaround is to enter the password when prompted. bug and workaround are tested in both windows xp and mac os x builds of thunderbird 2.0.0.0
confirmed duplicate of the above...
