User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Build Identifier: If this request for enhancement sounds like a joke, that may be because it started out as one. I sent a message today referring to an attachment, but forgot to attach the file to the message. In composing a reply to the inevitable "there was no file attached" message I received in response, I jokingly suggested that e-mail clients should be alert to the situation. After using using e-mail for 13 years I still forget to attach the file a significant percentage of the time, and in composing that reply it occurred to me that it needn't be merely a joke. My suggestion is that Thunderbird scan outgoing message content for the word fragment "attach" (perhaps the real-time spellcheck mechanism could be leveraged for the purpose). If the word fragment is present but an attachment isn't associated with the message, issue a warning that no file is attached. The feature could be optional, and could be designed to accommodate various languages. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. User intends to send an attachment, and refers to same in message content. 2. User forgets to attach file. 3. Recipient does not receive desired file. Actual Results: User does not receive file described by sender, sender appears to be stupid. Expected Results: Sender receives message from Thunderbird warning that message content indicates an attachment is intended, but attachment is not associated with message. User is given opportunity to cancel send and attach file as appropriate.
